Raven has been trained by the Centre for Service and Therapy Dogs of Australia (Dogs for Life) for the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Dogs for Life is an approved training organisation under the Guide Hearing and Assistance Dog Act 2009 (Qld).
Raven is accredited as an Assistance Dog under the Guide Hearing and Assistance Dog Act 2009 (Qld) — the most stringent in Australia. This handler's card is recognised in all other Australian States and Territories and on all domestic airlines. The Public Access Test establishes a minimum standard for Assistance Dogs to be certified under the Act. A Public Access Test must be completed annually to retain accreditation.
Raven has the same legal status as a Guide or Hearing Dog under the Guide Hearing and Assistance Dog Act 2009 (Qld), For more detail on public access rights for Assistance Dogs in State and Commonwealth legislation and policy, see below.
No system of accreditation exists and no specific passes are issued. Commonwealth law applies.
